STUDY IN SOUTH KOREA WITH SHI GLOBAL

South Korea is a popular study destination for Vietnamese students thanks to its advanced education system, modern learning environment and closeness to Vietnam. SHI Global advises on the Korean language programme (D-4-1 visa), college and university programmes (D-2 visa) and Master’s programmes, supporting students from choosing a school and major to preparing the admission application and the student visa.

Korean language programme (D-4-1 visa)

  • For: high school graduates who want to study Korean at a language institute affiliated with a Korean university.
  • Duration: usually terms of about 10 weeks; many schools have 4 intakes a year (March, June, September, December), depending on the school.
  • Goal: reach the TOPIK level needed to move on to college or university (D-2) in Korea.
  • Applications usually include the high school diploma and transcript (translated and legalised), proof of finances and a study plan; some schools hold an interview.

College and University (D-2)

  • For: high school graduates.
  • Language of study: Korean (usually TOPIK level 3 or above, depending on the school) or English-taught programmes (IELTS/TOEFL).
  • Students who do not yet have enough Korean can be advised on a language pathway before the main programme.
  • Popular majors: Business Administration, IT, Tourism and Hospitality, Media, Engineering and more.

Master’s

  • For: university graduates.
  • Language of study: Korean or English, depending on the programme.
  • Applications usually include the bachelor’s degree and transcript, a study plan, recommendation letters and a language certificate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I study in Korea without knowing Korean?
Yes. Students can start with the D-4-1 Korean language programme to reach the required TOPIK level and then move on to college or university, or choose an English-taught programme. SHI will advise a pathway that fits your current level.

How much financial proof is needed?
It varies by school, region and the consulate’s rules at the time. SHI will guide each applicant on the exact amount and format.

Can students work part-time?
D-2 students (and D-4-1 students after the required period of study) may work part-time with permission from the immigration office, for limited hours depending on their level of study and Korean ability. Part-time work does not replace the family’s financial plan.

Does SHI guarantee visa approval?
Visa decisions belong to the Korean authorities. SHI commits to honest advice and a complete, correct application.
