FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to know Japanese before going?
Language schools usually require basic Japanese before applying (around N5 or a set number of study hours, depending on the school). SHI will advise a suitable study plan.

Can students work part-time?
Students may work part-time with permission to engage in activity outside their status of residence, within the hours allowed by Japanese rules. Part-time work only covers part of the costs and does not replace the family’s financial plan.

What can I study after language school?
Students can apply to senmon schools, junior colleges or universities depending on their Japanese level and results.

Does SHI guarantee the COE or visa?
Decisions belong to the Japanese authorities. SHI commits to honest advice and a complete, correct application.
