Study in China: March and September 2027 intakes
SHI Global is accepting applications to study in China for two 2027 intakes: March (spring semester) and September (autumn semester).
March 2027
The spring intake is mainly for Chinese language courses (one semester or one year), a good option before starting a degree in September. Many universities take spring applications from around October to December of the previous year.
September 2027
The main intake, covering language courses, bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Many universities open master’s applications from late 2026 to early 2027, and scholarship rounds usually close in the same period.
For bachelor’s applicants: from the 2026–2027 academic years, undergraduate applicants under the Chinese Government Scholarship must take the CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment). Mathematics is compulsory; Chinese-taught programmes also require Professional Chinese. The test runs five times a year, in January, March, April, June and December (source: Shanghai government portal).
Visa
After admission, the university issues an admission letter and a JW201 or JW202 form. Programmes over 180 days require an X1 visa; programmes of 180 days or less require an X2 visa.
